Unequal
Unequal is right!!! I am apauled by this reading this week and terribly surprised how others countries and other cultures still treat women. What surprised me the most is that it just isn’t the choice of the man to treat his wife in such a terrible way it is that it is the law or written in Acts for these countries that they are suppose to be this way to their wife. Not just a stranger but their wife!!!
Women in the US have come so far, why is it that these other countries are so blatant with female discrimination? There are laws that require the women to “obey” their husband, have licit sex, get his permission for simple things and discriminate based on sex for their right to vote and even put laws and limits on women from receiving inheritance or having their own property.
I find all of this to be so archaeic and in humane. I wish that all of the women in the US who find that they have it rough and tough knew about this, they might actually quit complaining so much about trivial issues!!

Toby Video
I don’t even know where to begin with all of the comments I have from this! I will say I LOVE Tobey Keith but this video is quite disturbing to say the least and a side of him that I don’t like to see. I have heard this song so many times on the radio but now I will always see this video in my head and I will not hesitate to turn the station!
He thinks he is shutting her out and locking her in the basement and doesn’t hesitate to say all of the things he wants to say to her, especially the hateful things and even attacks her own mother but as he realizes he is so stupid and builds this wall around himself he tries to apologize so he can get out. She realizes at the same time and walks away and leaves him there without a word, just as he would have done had he built it correctly.
Bothered by this video, YES! He seems like such a good man, he loves his country and supports the troops and then makes a video like this to degrade women. I just don’t get it!

My question
I am not really sure if the question I have is right for this assignment but I thought I could use another perspective on this.
I have a 12 year old boy and an almost 8 year old girl and a really good friend that lives in Houston who is gay. My kids really enjoy him and his wonderful sense of humor. Since he lives in Houston we don’t see him too often but often enough for the kids to start asking questions. Obviously the kids have never been told and I am not sure when or how to tell them and will it really make a difference to them? He lives with his best friend who is a female so it isn’t a question about who he lives with, they don’t even ever see him with another man but the topic comes up during conversation.
So I guess the question would be, do I come right out and tell them or just the older child or let it go like without explaining?
Thank you for any insight on this!
